Some career paths follow a straight line. Justin Douma's took a few turns — and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Before joining Kunes Buick GMC of Oak Creek, Justin was treating lawns for a living. It wasn't where he imagined building a career, but the work ethic he developed during those days followed him right through the dealership doors. He spent about two and a half years in sales before making the move to finance six months ago — a transition that's still unfolding, but one he's embraced fully.
"Gritty" is the word Justin uses to describe himself and the team around him. It's not a flashy word, but it's an honest one. And at Kunes Buick GMC of Oak Creek, honesty tends to go a long way.
His time in sales left a mark on the record books. In 2024, Justin earned the title of the number one Buick salesman in the state of Wisconsin — a recognition he's still processing.
"I still don't think I realize how big of a deal that is," he said. "But I'm very grateful to have done that and had the help to get there."
That humility isn't false modesty. Justin is quick to credit Brian Bohm, a colleague and mentor who shaped the way he thinks about hard work and what it can produce. "He's had a big impact," Justin said. "Just what a good, hard work ethic gets you in life."
Now in finance, Justin brings that same drive to a new chapter — and to a team he describes as genuinely united. When the store sets a record, it doesn't feel like an individual win. It feels like something shared.
"Every time we beat our store record, it makes me feel a part of something bigger," he said. "We're all on the same team, trying to accomplish the same goals."
At last count, that next milestone is within reach: breaking 300. If Justin's track record is any indication, it's only a matter of time.
